pelvic Steam
Pelvic Steaming, a practice known by various names like vaginal, yoni or sacral steaming, is an ancient tradition cherished across diverse cultures worldwide.
It involves a pot of hot water, fragrant herbs, and a serene moment perched over a pot.
HOW IT WORKS
The heat increases circulation in the pelvic area, thus removing stagnation - the culprit of most gynecological issues, the added herbs provide additional benefits.
Contrary to some belief, this ritual is not a fad, it was once a treasured practice and passed down through generations by wise women, healers, and midwives. Over time as obstetricians replaced midwives and birth has been medicalized, the tradition of vaginal steaming disappeared in most cultures.

POSTPARTUM
This traditional healing practice for postpartum care can be traced back through time by many cultures all over the world. For more information and evidence on the benefits of steaming postpartum, visit the FOURTH TRIMESTER VAGINAL STEAM STUDY
Steaming after birth is a common and effective time to steam. Steaming provides new mothers with nurturing care for their physical bodies and can be a sacred time to slow down, be cared for, connect to the womb - an opportunity to make this pleasurable practice a ritual to mark the emotional and spiritual transition to motherhood.
During the first few weeks postpartum, steaming can support the natural process of shedding lochia and reducing the uterus size back down to baseline. It aids not just in the removal of lochia and clots, it also helps increase tonicity to the vaginal canal (which helps to prevent prolapse), heal tearing, scar tissue, and reduce or clear hemorrhoids. Yoni steaming reduces inflammation to the pelvic organs and tissues and can prevent infection. This is in part by increasing circulation in the pelvis and partly by the more direct access of the herbal steam to the uterus as the cervix slowly contracts in the 6 weeks following birth.
