Stories are medicine

Stories can heal, transform & awaken. They are healing to write, they connect deeply. Honest & raw stories are what others moms ache for. Share yours.

Here are some tips for writing courageous and genuine stories, all in the service of finding your voice:

  1. Be true. Let your whole, flawed self be seen on the page. Say the unsayable thing. Let it out. When you feel emotions while writing, the reader will feel them too. Let the process of writing heal, awaken & transform you.

  2. Don't spend too much time setting the stage. Start in the middle of a scene. Begin where it's most juicy.

  3. Use sensory, visceral details like tastes, smells, sights, textures, and sounds to help the reader feel right there with you.

  4. Share the breaking point, change of view, or transformation. Be specific about why it’s meaningful & how it changed you.
