This morning I made coffee and the kids’ lunch boxes and noticed a suspicious feeling enveloping me. I was ok! Even hopeful. The other week I was driving the kids and found myself totally accidentally and unperfomatively singing along with their favorite songs. With joy! A BIG FUCKING CHANGE, MY FRIEND. I no longer see boulders falling on us while driving. Suicide no longer enters my mind as a solution to misery. I spontaneously dance.
I’VE MADE IT, GUYS! Which means you can too! And I wanna share my roadmap with you.

Who am I again? And why am I sharing this?

I’m Vanda, the founder of Namaste Highland Park, a yoga studio I sold two years ago. I went off the deep end since then & wanna tell you about it. I’ll tell you more.

2018 was a difficult year for me. It really began with a decade of overdoing prior, because, ironically, I didn't understand how to properly take care of myself as someone who practiced and preached yoga. This led to postpartum depression and it downward spiraled from there. I was too stubborn to seek help and believed I could handle everything by myself (yoga cures all!). Despite trying various self-help methods, I couldn't β€œsolve” my depression, eroding marriage, or wobbly motherhood. It took me two years to finally reach out for assistance, and now, after three years of receiving help, I am in a MUCH better place. I’ve learned A LOT and I want to share it with you:

  1. To quote one of my favorite poets β€œYou don’t have to be healed to be whole.”

  2. There is a sequence to healing. Doing things out of order can backfire. Doing too much too soon overloads our capacity. Start with our nervous system and body to create a container for the coming into wholeness to unfold.

  3. Take personal responsibility for the right things: this means parsing out what is our responsibility and then unapologetically shifting πŸ’© back to the plates of others.

And there is so much more! All of it is doable. All of it takes time.
